Dirkshof constructs a wind farm of 67.5 MW in Estonia

Over the years, Dirkshof, going even beyond the borders of North Germany, has also contributed their experience concerning wind energy in other European countries. Due to their good world-wide economical networking, a new large-scale project could be launched in Estonia.
The project “AIDU”, its site located in the northeast of Estonia in the district of Ida-Viru, posed quite a challenge not only concerning logistics but also concerning the schedule. The appointed deadline to have the first of the 15 Vestas V150 4.5MW turbines at 105 m hub height erected from midyear 2023 on was perfectly met by the professional Vestas teams.
Beginning of the year 2024: after a work interruption for several weeks due to the cold, all 15 wind turbines have been erected. Temperatures of minus 20 degrees and below rendered works on the turbines impossible. At the end of February 2024, all turbines were connected to the grid. All in all, the wind farm has a capacity of 67.5 MW.
Press release Vestas Wind Systems – February 2023
Within only a year, the company Dirkshof Estonia OÜ finished turnkey construction works on the wind farm Aidu in Estonia and put it into operation. The wind farm consists of 15 Vestas V150 wind turbines, each one having a nominal power of 4.5 MW, and a substation. Under the direction of the company Dirkshof Estonia OÜ, construction works were carried out in cooperation with local and international partners. The project’s financing was shared equally by NordLB and Swedbank.
Since March 2024, the entire wind farm has been in operation and, shortly after, officially been taken over by the operator company Aidu Wind Park OÜ.
In the wind farm Aidu, a yearly yield of 12 million kWh per wind turbine is to be expected which equals a reduction of 135.000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. About 40.000 households will thus be powered.
