Dr. Nina Scheer visits Dirkshof
SPD member of the Bundestag Dr. Nina Scheer took advantage of the parliamentary summer recess to visit Dirkshof and speak with managing directors Dirk Ketelsen and Claas Arlt – northern German actors in the energy transition.
Dr. Nina Scheer, member of the German Bundestag (MdB) and initiator of the Social Democratic Energy Transition Appeal, visited Dirkshof this summer. According to her, scientific theories and research findings should be followed by action. Here at Dirkshof, in the cradle of renewable energy pioneers, the discussion focused on obstacles posed by politicians and authorities that need to be addressed to accelerate the energy transition.
A brief presentation of Dirkshof's various projects and business areas provided the transition into an in-depth professional discussion. Dr. Scheer was particularly impressed by the civic spirit, the involvement of all residents and the measures designed to build acceptance – such as the Parasol passive radar system for demand-controlled nighttime marking.
In her opinion, the end of the moratorium in Schleswig-Holstein cannot be the end of the discussion. There must be an open plea for further expansion. In the ensuing discussion, there was consensus that legal framework parameters are needed, which must be further promoted, such as the continued operation of wind turbines after the standard 20-year operating period, the open-type procedure for the Federal Emissions Protection Act (BImSch) permit, and a time limit for the permitting process in order to constructively address the regulatory obstacles.
Dr. Scheer also wants to re-examine the designation of the area, as there is no convincing reason why existing sites with fully developed infrastructure and where there is also public acceptance should not be preserved.
She promised to take all the points discussed into account and to advance them in the Social Democratic Energy Transition Appeal she initiated.
We look back on this exchange with satisfaction.
