Citizen Energy: The Gauls from the Dike
Dirk Ketelsen, born in 1952, is a pioneer of Germany’s renewable energy sector and founded the country’s first citizen-owned wind farm in Reußenköge in the 1980s, which remains the largest entirely locally owned wind park. With 88 turbines, battery storage, and plans to refine and use the energy locally, he is now working to build a regional energy ecosystem capable of competing with major corporations.
